BREAKING GROUND FOR NEW COURTHOUSE • The official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fourth District Court facility was held on Monday, June 10. Those participating in turning the soil were, from left, Alyn Lunceford, Director of Facilities, Administration of Courts; Judge Don Eyre; Judge James Brady; Judge Lynn Davis; County commissioners Chad Winn and Rick Carlton; County Administrator Mike Seely; Brian Wilcox, Okland Construction Project Manager; and Brian Bales, Project Manager for State of Utah. The new courthouse will begin work this week and take 8 months to complete.
SEGO LILY TIME • This Sego Lily was blooming at dawn's early light on Monday in the foothills east of town. Western Indians deemed the bulb-like roots of sego lily a great delicacy. They taught the Mormon pioneers to use the bulb for badly needed food. This resulted in the sego lily being designated as the Utah State Flower.
