My Fathers Hands
Rough and Calloused
On the evening of August 15, 2013, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away. Dad was born on September 4, 1939 in Nephi, UT to Vic and Alberta Jones. He was the youngest of 9 children and was taught at a very young age the value of hard work.
Dad married Linda Ann Garfield on October 27, 1961 in the Manti Temple. They enjoyed 49 years together until her passing in 2010. Together they raised three children. During one of Dads many trips to Logan, UT he met Kathy Johnston, their friendship bloomed and on June 5, 2013 they married. Dad was much respected in all of his business ventures. Honesty was one of his greatest traits. After retirement, he chose to become a farmer. He loved working the land and caring for the livestock. Nothing made him more proud as to watch his grandchildren work hard alongside him. He loved each of us unconditionally and would always take the time to share his advice.
Survived by his wife Kathy; three children Cheryl (Byron) Gudmundson, Scott (Bonnie), and Jason (Bobbie); stepson David (Sarah) Johnston; twelve grandchildren, two great-grand daughters; sisters Melba Bowen, Barbara (Larry) Hansen, Darlene Anderson; Sister in laws Dorothy Jones and Pat (Bill) Sutherland and brother in law Tom (Mary) Garfield. Preceded in death by 1st wife Linda and both parents. We would like to thank the staff at the Franklin County Medical Center and the UofU Medical Center for all they have done for us over the past several days.
