- Christmas Light Parade and festivities will take place November 24th
LIGHT PARADE • Nephi City will be holding its annual Light Parade, "Light Up The World" on Saturday, November 24th at 6:15 on Nephi's Main Street. The parade will run from 300 South and 600 North will start after the lighting ceremony at the park at 100 South and Main Street at 6:00 p.m. Above the Grand Prize winning entry from last year sponsored by Garrett Honda, Nephi.
Here it is, Thanksgiving weekend, the start of the Holiday Season. The time has been rolled back for daylight savings time. Businesses along main street have decorated their stores in festive holiday displays. The first snow of the season has fallen. The leaves have, for the most part, fallen off the trees and our little main street can be darkened and ready for it's time to shine with the Christmas Light parade and lighting of the Old Mill Park on Saturday, November 24.
The lighting of Old Mill Park will start at 6:00 p.m. with the parade to follow at 6:15 p.m. The park has been repaired and is ready to go for its' grand re-lighting.
Who will enter? Who will win? Last year it was Garrett Honda with an outstanding display of lights. This year we can expect some beautiful creations that could be even more impressive than the gems we have had in the past few years.
Who could forget grand prize winner Bert McPherson's awe-inspiring entry of Santa's sleigh and nine reindeer flying high in the sky, or the Phillips family playing live music to the delight of all. Maybe your favorite has been Ed Park's little ponies pulling the little cart that has seemed to get more and more lights on it each year. These are just a few of the past winners in our little town parade.
This year, look for your free glow necklaces that will be passed out to all children along the parade route. There will be a few extra prizes so look for those as well. After the parade, join us at the park to vote for your favorite entries and get your free hot chocolate and donut that have been generously donated by the Nephi Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and Nephi Chamber of Commerce. There will be other displays at other parks throughout the town, so after the parade and voting, take a drive through town and enjoy the first lights of the season.
The weather should be really nice this year, not so cold, but even if it is a bit chilly, you can have a warm spot in your heart for our new favorite Christmas tradition.
